Saturday, July 30— Youngwood Swamp and 5 Star Bike Trail

Meet at Youngwood, PA Trail Head at 8:30AM

Directions: From Greensburg, take Route 119 to Youngwood and turn left on Depot Street as if heading to Westmoreland County Community College. Follow Depot Street just a short distance through a traffic light and across the railroad tracks and look for the trail head parking lot on the right

Description: As a summer event, this hike/bike outing will be a general nature exploration of local birds, butterflies, dragonflies, trees and wildflowers. We will start with a leisurely stroll out and back along the stream and through the swamp areas, as well as up onto the WCCC campus. For those inclined, bring your bike and we can then bike north on the Five Star Trail for a few miles, returning to the parking lot. Both hiking and biking trails are flat and in good condition. The trail head has a portable toilet.
