Meet at 8:30am - Saltsburg Trail Parking lot

Directions: Follow Rt 981 north from New Alexandria about 8 miles to PA 286 and turn right across the bridge into Saltsburg.  After 0.2 miles, turn right on Salt Street and travel 0.4 miles to the playground and trail parking lot.

Description:  We will walk this section of the trail out and back across the bridge on the Loyalhanna Creek towards Sara Steele trailhead and turn around at our discretion. This should be the peak time for spring wildflowers and migration movements for various songbirds, providing us ample viewing opportunities! The Kiski River additionally provides an opportunity to view birds like Bald Eagles, Kingfisher, and waterfowl. This trail is level grade and easy walking overall.
