Description: This large park has a lot to offer in terms of trails, flora, and fauna, including over 140 bird species seen in April alone, a resident Barred Owl, and one of the region’s largest accessible populations of locally-uncommon Toadshade Trillium. We will begin from the Morton Fields lot and descend to the bottoms of Chartiers Creek in search of Toadshade and migratory songbirds. Following this ~ 1.5mi walk, we will caravan to the Upper St. Clair Community Center at the north end of the park to access the Wingfield Pines Conservation Area. This location hosts additional habitat including a boardwalk over a portion of AMD treatment wetlands for additional habitat variety. Trails at this site are well-established though occasionally steep / rolling.
