Description: Ferncliff is known for its botany and plant fossils. We will walk the Ferncliff Trail and using the SEEK and Google Lens apps, try to ID the many unique Pennsylvania flora and catch some beautiful views of the Youghiogheny River Gorge. We’ll look for Barbara’s Buttons, Carolina Tasselrue, Clammy Azalea, Smooth Azalea, Buffalo Nut, and Spicebush. Hopefully, we’ll also spot a few of the higher-elevation birds native to this area. Time permitting, there are other trails of interest. Total time: about 3 hours.
