Description: WBNC members and guests will meet Georgia Shalek/Mike Smith at one of the mid-section parking areas of this 7 mile hiking/bike trail linking Scottdale and Mt. Pleasant to enjoy birds and nature. We will visit a turtle pond, marsh and wooded areas along Jacob’s Creek on what was once a RR line. For those who wish to, we will caravan to the Jacob’s Creek Wetlands for hiking on maintained grassy trails along ponds and marsh, and proceed to hike what was once a paved road toward a lake at the back of this area which is adjacent to Bridgeport Dam. There we should be able to see an eagle’s nest as well as many more gifts of nature. This area floods often, so waterproof boots are recommended, along with binoculars. Bring lunch if you wish!
