Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the main boat launch. This is a rescheduled outing from the March weather cancellation.
Leaders: Mike Smith and Georgia Shalek, skeetor72@yahoo.com, 412-526-8360
Directions: From the Pennsylvania turnpike exit in Donegal, turn left from the pay booth onto Route 31, drive about 300 yards and turn left (north) on Route 711. Drive about 2 miles on 711. In a half mile after descending a steep hill, look for the Fish Commission sign to Donegal Lake on your left and turn left onto Donegal Lake Road. Proceed to the main boat launch toward the western end of the lake.
Description: WBNC members and guests will meet Mike Smith and/or Georgia Shalek at Donegal Lake, off Route 711 a couple miles North of Donegal, at the main boat launch toward the western end of the lake. We will scout for ducks, etc. from that vantage point and then proceed to the lesser established kayak launch toward the eastern end of the lake. After that, anyone who chooses will convoy to Acme Dam Lake to scout that area for more ducks, etc. In addition, we may hike the nature trail behind Acme Dam Lake. Any WBNC member who attends wearing mis-matched footwear will be entered into a drawing for a prize. Obviously, binoculars and spotting scopes are vital as the waterfowl on both of these lakes prefer to rest and feed along the distant shoreline. We hope you all and the migrating waterfowl are in attendance.
