Description: This is our first overnighter in quite a while but it should prove be a great end to our 2022 season. We will meet Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake Wilhelm Marina in Maurice K. Goddard State Park, Mercer County, PA. Several lakeside access points provide good opportunities to view a wide variety of ducks, loons, grebes, and gulls. In late afternoon, we’ll proceed to Erie, Pa, check into lodging (reserve on your own, possibility for discounted group rates depending on RSVPs) and meet for a group dinner.
The next morning (after breakfast on your own), we will meet at Presque Isle State Park, one of the best birding locations in all of Pennsylvania, for a day of short walks in search of ducks, finches, and chances at uncommon grebes, gulls, and more. We may even luck into a Snowy Owl out on the beach! Additional stops in the Erie area possible based on interest from the group.
***Please note: Pennsylvania Waterfowl Hunting Season is open during this time. While we will avoid hunters as much as possible, there is a small chance we may incidentally witness waterfowl killed in a hunt. Please consider this factor when deciding to attend.
